The 2 000 litre air receiver tank (2000 litre air receiver) is engineered for large manufacturing operations, heavy industrial environments and high-demand production facilities. It is the standard pairing for 45 kW to 75 kW rotary screw compressors and is widely used in automotive plants, paper and packaging factories, food processing lines and mining support installations across South Africa.
At 2 000 litres, this receiver provides significant compressed air storage — enough to sustain production through compressor maintenance cycles, handle large simultaneous tool loads and protect sensitive downstream equipment from pressure transients. In multi-compressor systems, the 2 000 litre receiver acts as a central system header, balancing load between multiple machines.
The 2 000 litre unit is supplied in horizontal orientation with heavy-duty saddle-mounted legs — purpose-designed for large industrial plant rooms, compressor stations and outdoor enclosures. The horizontal profile allows installation in low-ceiling environments where a vertical unit would not fit.
Standard supply includes: SANS 347-compliant pressure test certificate, factory-set safety relief valve sized for the connected compressor, 150 mm dial pressure gauge, full-bore manual drain valve and 2" BSP inlet/outlet connections. Man-entry inspection port is standard on all 2 000 litre units. Automatic timed condensate drains, level gauges and isolation valves are available on request.
Factory-set SANS-compliant pressure safety valve. Prevents over-pressurisation. Set to working pressure ± tolerance.
Glycerin-filled dial pressure gauge (100 mm or 150 mm depending on size). Digital transmitter available on request.
Manual full-bore drain valve for condensate removal. Automatic timed or zero-loss drain available as upgrade.
Pressure test certificate and SANS 347 compliance documentation supplied with every unit.
Internal shot-blasted and primed to minimise corrosion. Epoxy internal lining available on request.
2" BSP inlet, 2" BSP outlet standard. Additional nozzles for gauge, safety valve and drain included.
Man-entry or access inspection port standard on 2,000 litre and above. Required for in-service internal inspection.
External industrial enamel paint finish. Weatherproof external coating available for outdoor installations.
Heavy-duty saddle-mounted structural steel legs. Designed for concrete pad mounting.

Adequate storage volume means your compressor runs fewer start-stop cycles — reducing motor wear, starter contactor wear and heat stress on the air-end. Screw compressors running in load/unload mode benefit greatly from correct receiver sizing.
A receiver acts as a pressure buffer — absorbing demand spikes without immediate pressure drop. Critical for spray painting, pneumatic controls and precision tooling where pressure variation causes quality problems.
Short-term demand spikes (impact wrenches, multiple guns firing simultaneously, large valve actuations) can be met from the receiver without the compressor struggling to keep up — provided the receiver is correctly sized.
As a general guide: Receiver volume (litres) = FAD (L/min) × 6 to 10. The 2000 litre receiver is suited for compressors with FAD up to approximately up to 14.0 m³/min.
| Compressor Size | FAD (m³/min) | Recommended Receiver | This Receiver Suitable? |

A 2 000 litre receiver is optimally paired with 45–75 kW rotary screw compressors delivering 7.5–14 m³/min. It can also serve as a wet receiver or dry receiver in two-stage systems.
Yes — with weatherproof external coating and an appropriate shelter or canopy. Contact us for outdoor-grade specification including UV-resistant coating and stainless steel fittings.
A wet receiver is installed before the dryer and receives hot, wet air directly from the compressor. A dry receiver is installed after the dryer and stores clean, dry air for distribution. Both use the same vessel — the difference is system position and piping configuration.
Yes — a manual full-bore drain valve is standard. An automatic timed drain or zero-loss drain is strongly recommended for high-duty systems to prevent water accumulation.
